Clancy Rugg is Runner-Up for the StatSheet America East Sixth Man of the Week - December 24th, 2012

StatSheet's America East Player of the Week for December 24th goes to Tommy Brenton from Stony Brook. Jameel Warney from Stony Brook has earned StatSheet's America East Freshman of the Week. And finally, Boston University's Malik Thomas is the StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week. Brenton registered big numbers in scoring (8.5 pts per game), rebounding (9.5 per game), and assists (7 per game). The Stony Brook senior played well for the Seawolves in a victory against Sacred Heart and a loss to Maryland.

Brenton led all rebounding for the Seawolves with 11 while adding 4 steals in a close 64-59 win over Sacred Heart. He then led rebounding with 8 and added 9 assists in a 76-69 loss to Maryland.

This is the first StatSheet America East Player of the Week honor for Tommy Brenton. The runner-up this week is Maine sophomore Justin Edwards. Honorable mention goes to Maine sophomore Alasdair Fraser. The highest ranking player from Vermont was Brian Voelkel who finished fifth.

StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week: Stony Brook's Jameel Warney

Jameel Warney played an average of 28 minutes starting both games for Stony Brook. He was number one among all America East freshmen in scoring (17.0 pts per game), rebounding (6.0 per game), and blocked shots (3.0 per game). In the win over Sacred Heart, Warney led the Seawolves in scoring with 17 points and added 3 blocked shots. Following that in the loss to Maryland, he led all scoring with a 17 point show and added 3 blocked shots.

This is the first StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week honor for Jameel Warney. Evan Cooper from Hartford grabs runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Shaun Lawton from Maine. Ethan O`Day, who finished 9th, was the highest ranking freshman for Vermont.

StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week: Boston University's Malik Thomas

Sophomore Malik Thomas, a 6-7 guard/forward, played 24 minutes during a single game for the Terriers. In a 70-57 win over Cornell, Thomas led the rebounding for the Terriers with 5 and also added.

This is the first StatSheet America East 6th Man of the Week honor for Malik Thomas. Our own Clancy Rugg is the runner up. Sam Rowley, a sophomore forward from Albany, receives honorable mention. Vermont has yet to win StatSheet America East Player of the Week.
