StatSheet's America East Player of the Week for March 4th goes to Tommy Brenton from Stony Brook. Jameel Warney from Stony Brook has earned StatSheet's America East Freshman of the Week.
Brenton was the best in the America East in assists (7.0 per game). He also registered huge numbers in scoring (10 pts per game), shooting (50%), and rebounding (10 per game). The Stony Brook senior put these numbers up in wins against Boston University and Albany.
Brenton led all rebounding for the Seawolves with 13 while adding 7 assists in a 71-55 win against Boston University. He followed that up with a team-leading 7 rebounds plus an additional 7 assists in a narrow 75-70 win over Albany.
This is one of five StatSheet America East Player of the Week honors for Tommy Brenton. The runner-up this week is Maryland-Baltimore County senior Ryan Cook. Honorable mention goes to our own Brian Voelkel.
StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week: Stony Brook's Jameel Warney
Jameel Warney played an average of 27 minutes starting both games for Stony Brook. In the win over Boston University, Warney led the Seawolves in scoring with 15 points and added 2 blocked shots. Following that in the win over Albany, he added 10 points and 4 rebounds.
Jameel Warney has won the StatSheet America East Freshman of the Week an astounding 5 times. The runner-up is Maurice Watson Jr. from Boston University. John Papale from Boston University receives honorable mention. Brendan Kilpatrick was the highest ranking freshman from Vermont and finished 6th. Vermont has won the StatSheet America East Player of the Week award once this season.
